Phuket House Smashed, Dog Killed as Expat Takes Wrong Route

Friday, March 14, 2014
PHUKET: In a week of spectacular crashes, the Phuket Smash of the Week award goes to Danish man Per Pererichsen, 50. Motorcyclist Worathep Patawiriya, 19, saw the Dane's Mazda 3 veer across Thepkasattri Road in Thalang about 6.30pm yesterday and demolish a house, killing a dog. Mr Pererichsen is being treated in Thalang Hospital.

I know Per has been driving in Phuket for more than ten years and knows the quirks. Bet your bottom dollar the dead dog will have been a much loved and extremely valuable best of breed prize winner. Luck for Khun Per 19 year old Worathep Patawiriya, saw the whole thing and has impeccable bi lingual recital skills.

Gee, what was your point? Many people do have a strong bond with their canine companions, and if it was my dog killed, I would be upset and heartbroken. Looking at the extent of the damage and knowing hat he went of a road, it seems that the driver's knowledge of the quirks did not compensate for what appears to be excessive speed. When a Thai has an incident like this one can expect a lecture as to how badly Thais drive. And yet, here, you are taking a cheap shot at Worathep Patarwiriya because he saw the incident. It is fortunate that the driver didn't kill one of the home's residents.
