A selection of wiring and tools allegedly used by a Phuket thief

Phuket Electric Wiring Thief Nabbed

Wednesday, June 15, 2011
PHUKET: A man has been arrested for one of Phuket's most worrying crimes - the theft of electrical wiring.

Suwik Chairat, 61, was nabbed by police as he snipped cables on Monday at the Phuket Tin Mine Museum in central Kathu.

Police also took possession of an impressive array of tools that Khun Suwik allegedly used to snip his wiring prize.

Wiring thieves are often blamed for faults in Phuket's system of tsunami warning towers.

Khun Suwik, a second-hand dealer, lives not far from the museum, one of Phuket's newest tourist attractions and winner of the Phuketwan Innovation of the Year 2010.
