PHUKET: Prominent Phuket computer expert Woody Leonhard has posted a warning on Facebook saying that a national newspaper database has been hacked, and that stolen information could be used to attempt to steal money.
According to Mr Leonhard's personal Facebook site, the hacker has ''posted two thousand user id's, email addresses and passwords, and claims to have three thousand more. This is a REAL BIG DEAL, folks.''
Mr Leonhard says the hacked information could be used to attempt to access accounts on bank and brokerage sites.
''The hacker originally posted a few hundred compromised id's and passwords just before midnight, Thailand time, on Wednesday night,'' Mr Leonhardt writes.
''There's been no official acknowledgment as far as I can see. Time is of the essence.''
A response is expected from the newspaper today to the claims.
