The wreck of the 40-seat bus that crashed after dropping off tourists

Phuket Bus Crash Kills Driver After Tourists Were Dropped

Monday, October 15, 2012
PHUKET: A bus that crashed on a Phuket bend this afternoon, killing the driver, had just dropped off a party of Chinese tourists.

Police believe the driver, Kongkrit Sriprom, 44, may have been speeding when he lost control of the 40-seater on a bend near a school in eastern Phuket.

It is believed the passengers had been dropped in Phuket City and may have been visiting for the annual nine-day Phuket Vegetarian Festival, which began today.

The driver, working for Vision Transport, was returning the bus to the garage when he missed the bend on Sakdidet Road, near the Baan Ao Nam Bo School and the turnoff to the FIFA football pitch.

Another vehicle ran off the road as the bus headed for it. The driver, a teacher heading back to Phuket City from Cape Panwa, escaped injury.

The bus hit two trees, ripping a large hole through the bus and killing the driver.

Phuket Public Health Department is campaigning to dramatically lower the road toll on Phuket but has not released monthly figures since April.

Give people consequences before death for speeding. It is so simple. People need to slow down. Interesting they have not released the figures.
