Chalong language teacher Phanarat Nopphakhun, 37, is being charged for creating panic in a fake bomb scare at Phuket International Airport. ''She faces a maximum fine of 200,000 baht, five years imprisonment or both,'' said the investigating officer.
PHUKET: A woman was being questioned by the Royal Thai Navy and police today after a bomb scare led to an alert at Phuket International Airport.
The 38-year-old Thai woman became angered when security officials prevented her from taking four bottles of water onto the 9am AirAsia flight from Phuket to Bangkok.
On board the flight she said within earshot of air crew: ''In my luggage I put a bomb.''
As a result of what the woman said, the air crew immediately informed the captain who took the aircraft to a remote part of the airport.
All 141 passengers and all luggage was offloaded and screened again. No bomb was found.
The woman meanwhile was handed over to Navy and airport police who were still questioning her late this morning.
It is understood she is the wife of a foreigner. She faces serious charges.
A new flight was scheduled for 10.47am, but the woman is unlikely to be among passengers.
