If you smuggle drugs in Thailand AND use a fake passport, you are a serious contender for the Darwin award

I've been on direct flight from Madagascar to Bangkok, and I've been wondering what the purpose local guys are travelling to Kingdom, as neither looks like tourists nor like regular businessmen..,

Even more surprise for me was to see French citizens of African origin at the very peak season, when both flights and hotel are at top price level - at New Year Eve - who were dressed half traders and alike and rest of wardrobe promo T-short of Absolut vodka etc. - -what-they-are-doing-here- , yes, erh, how do they really fund that peak season break, giving scarce value of their outfits?
Didn't look like professional footballers at all,

Sue,
not everyone with money chooses to flaunt it with Armani Suits and Cartier watches. Some of the wealthiest people i've met have been from African nations and many are very low profile in their attire. Warren Buffet is worth 30+ billion US and still drives the same car he had 30 years ago. Let's not paint an entire continent with the same brush because of the actions of one man picked up the airport for drugs.

Chris,

that's true, but those particular guys whomevI met around NY most likely were typical French Arabs - very fit, ca. 25 yo of younger , and with characteristic communication pattern that suggests they most probably haven't managed to start and finish in a spectacular manner their career with multidugit exit, at 3AM on 01.01. in outfit like from shelter - trainers, Adidas shoulder , bags , free promotion T-shirts, only men, no woman ..?

You most probably understand that I have no bias neither against Afrucan, nor against French Arabs - among both groups, by the way, I have very good friends.

But that *particular* group of men really surprised me - to be in Thailand at time when cheapest air cost 1,500EUR (in quiet season could be as low as 500EUR) - and all that outfit and manners, NY, just men - sorry, that was almost definitely not high wealth individuals in disguise...

Sue,

a group of casually dressed men traveling to Phuket alone with no women? Wow ok I see your point now, yes they must have been drug smugglers.

Sue,
How do you know the weren't women pretending to be men and visa versa?
It has been known to occur.

I am not using any drugs except a couple of cold beers with friends. I checked out what these drugs in the article is for and it seems to me they are for gaining weight. Hey, I tell ya, beers does that to me too ha ha.
