He said there had been problems at Karon and Bang Tao and other beaches and that only a cooperative approach could succeed.
Patong contained 34 percent of the resorts on Phuket so it was particularly important, he told a gathering that included Thai Hotels Association (Southern Region) President Kritsada Tansakul, Patong Hotels Association Chair Supattra Jaruariya and Tourism Association of Thailand Director for Phuket and Phang Nga, Anoma Wongyai.
''Every resort needs to check whether their wastewater system is working,'' he said at Phuket Provincial Hall in a Songkran new year celebration.
Many of Phuket's municipal councils were still waiting for budgets so wastewater systems could be upgraded, he said. More resorts were also being built on hillsides, with the potential of landslips, he added.
''If any authorities are not responding to peoples' needs, please let me know,'' he said.
Resorts should be concerned about the safety of security of guests at all times. They should recommend that guests wear helmets on motorcycles and also swim between the flags at beaches and obey the instructions of lifeguards on red flag days.
He added that some tourist groups tended to misbehave and warned that those who came on student visas were more likely than most to find trouble.

It has gone way past that. Nobody pays any attention to pleas or please.
It is time for serious & severe financial penalties &/or shutting resorts down till the problems are fully rectified.

Shutting down a resort would certainly have all the others taking notice and changing their ways immediately.
