PHUKET: A young man was stabbed to death in a Phuket City street because he ''danced crazily,'' his alleged killer has told police.
The dead man, Sayomphu Guamsup, 21, enjoyed the nightclub At Time but when he walked away from the venue early on Sunday, a gang of five jumped him, according to Phuket City police.
The five pulled up on two motorcycles, leapt off and punched and kicked Khun Sayomphu and a companion, police allege.
Then one of the five attackers, Anon Ketkeaw, 22, pulled a knife and stabbed Khun Sayonphu three times outside the Grace dress shop, not far from the Metropole Hotel, say investigating officers from Phuket City police.
''We traced the gang to their rented home in Kor Kaew using security camera footage and arrested them,'' one officer said.
''The attack was carried out because Khun Sayomphu threw his elbows about as he danced and apparently bumped into Khun Anon.''
All five men were being held today and Khun Anon is likely to face a murder charge.
Khun Sayomphu worked as a foreman on a construction site. His body is at Vachira Phuket Hospital.
