A BRITISH tourist was found dead in a rented house in Rawai early today. It was the second death of a British citizen on Phuket in the space of two days.
Police from Chalong were called to the house about 4.30am by an English woman. The couple arrived about a week ago.
Officers found the body of the 55-year-old man lying naked on a bed. They said there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances.
He was named by police as Paul Christopher Burgess. Relatives in Britain have been notified.
The body was taken to Vachira Hospital in Phuket City where doctors will perform a thorough examination. The man who died the previous day was the victim of a heart attack.
A total of 288 British citizens died in Thailand in the last recorded year.
While the proportion of fatalities tends to be higher than in other destinations, the vast majority of the deaths are not suspicious.
