AN AUSTRALIAN tourist has been found dead in a room at a Patong guesthouse.
Police believe that the 66-year-old man, named in the Siangtai online news site as Joseph Edward Thoms, fell in the bathroom and struck his head.
Staff at the West guesthouse in Rat-U-Tit 200 Pi Road found Mr Thoms in his 500-baht-a-night room about 4.20pm yesterday.
Mr Thom arrived on Phuket on October 2 on a 30-day visa.
Police told
Phuketwan there were asthma inhalers and an old guitar in the room. There were no suspicious circumstances.
Mr Thoms' body is at Patong Hospital.
Several breakins at homes on Phuket have netted thieves in Patong and Phuket City hauls of jewellery, appliances and cash. The thieves are still on the loose.
