THESE graphic photographs are of a man who was allegedly assaulted on Wednesday night in a lane near the Tiger Bar in Soi Bangla.

Patong police have no record of the incident. Sources close to the US Navy say there have been no incidents reported involving crewmen on shore leave.

Yet it's unlikely that the man stumbled on the pavement and hit his head on the curb. Patong Hospital did not admit any expat with injuries on Wednesday evening.

According to Siangtai newspaper, which published one of the photographs on its front page, the man was a tourist from Switzerland who became involved in a fight with five young Americans and came off second best about 10.13pm.
