Accused Phuket Road Rage Rock Throwers Are Too Young to Name

Friday, May 1, 2015
PHUKET: Two boys aged 15 and 16 have been arrested and are being questioned over a case of rock-throwing road rage on Phuket.

A Swedish man told officers at Kamala Police Station his car was badly damaged when pelted with rocks by two youngsters on a motorcycle on the Phuket coast road between Kamala and Patong on April 27.

The boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have told police a foreigner in the car prevented them time and again from passing on their motorcycle, so they threw rocks at the vehicle.

At least the youths didn't shoot him.

Ahh... so these little punks just happened to have a few big rocks handy to bust out some car windows... and these punks actually feel that they were justified in doing this. Just watch, this Swedish guy is just gonna take it in the shorts on this.

Sorry, what does ''take it in the shorts'' mean? Is that a Swedish phrase? Is English your native language?

So did they have to stop and pick up rocks or do they normally drive round with prepared ammunition to throw at other road users?

I love driving, but hate driving in Phuket.

@Steve: I echo your sentiment - but qualify it by adding not just on Phuket, but sadly all over Thailand.

Even with more hands on policing in the area I live, the driving standards have significantly deteriorated with road rage becoming more & more prevalent. It has got to the point where after witnessing 3 accidents & hearing of 2 more involving Thai family friends, all within the past 4 days, I simply refuse to drive any more.

My girlfriend scoffed at me to begin with, then realized I was deadly serious. I explained that while my reflexes are still good, I can no longer anticipate the actions of others.

I never thought at the tender age of 60, I, who used to love driving, have become fearful to do so.

The length of that road is solid line so no passing. Hard to understand how he prevented them from passing - there was no right of way to do so.

If they were trying to pass they were committing an offence (on top of being helmet-less) so they were at fault from the start.

I have lost count of the near misses I have had on that road by reckless and impatient drivers.

Callous to say but I did laugh the time two undertook me, forgot about the bend and sailed into the gutter. Theey stood up so no point in stopping for a bashing.

Nice to see as usual you managed to slag off a comment @ Richard - time for your cocoa..

What a lovely couple of welcoming Thai gentleman to meet. How proud their parents must be.

Steve - I totally echo your sentiment. "Going for a nice drive" is an oxymoron in Thailand.

Too young to name. Old enough to have a legitimate motorbike license?

Gee ED more and more you question one's use of English (get an education) the comment by Vickers has been used for years worldwide to mean losing money on the deal.
