PHUKET: The founder of Phuket Airpark, Suchart Raksanob, is still confident the innovative development can fly. He still believes the project for people who love airplanes can overcome its present difficulties.
''Everybody knows we have a problem with an investor,'' he said. ''We aim to clear it up and find new investors.''
According to the Bangkok Post, the Northern Bangkok Criminal Court recently accepted a lawsuit filed by Adrian Held, a Swiss investor, against Phuket Airpark Co and its founder, claiming he was lured to invest in the company. Mr Held wants the 41.57 million baht he invested returned.
Before bringing the case to the court, Mr Held told the newspaper, he attempted to negotiate with Khun Suchard for a return of his investment, but the effort failed.
However, Khun Suchart told Phuketwan yesterday that negotiations were continuing and that he was confident the 124-rai project at Pa Klok, in eastern Phuket, would eventually succeed with a new investor.
The private airfield has been operating since 2009, with a band of enthusiastic supporters.
There are 10 landowners along the runway of Phuket Airpark, the Post says, adding that land plots are priced between 1.5 million and 24 million baht.
Khun Suchart said the five-phase development will eventually include a canal village and a shopping centre.
''Lots of investment is coming to Phuket so I don't think I will have any problems finding buyers,'' Khun Suchart told Phuketwan back in 2008.

they should get some more traffic from the bigger airport! like the smaller plans could land there...
