Aloha: Hawaiians Say Sawadee to Katamanda

Saturday, January 26, 2008
THE PACIFIC has finally reached the Indian Ocean with the expansion of a Hawaii-based resort operation.

Castle Resort & Hotels has taken over Phuket's Katamanda villa development on the bluff between Kata and Kata Noi and the Baan Ngam Resort & Spa on Koh Samui.

It's a case of ''Aloha'' greets ''Sawadee.''

Alan Mattson, President and Chief Operating Officer of Castle Resorts & Hotels, said: ''Entering Thailand is an exciting new development of our company???s strategic expansion into Southeast Asia.

''We plan to continue this aggressive expansion of our global presence from our Hawaii-based headquarters in 2008."

Katamanda is an exclusive villa resort that features 40 two-bedroom and three-to-six bedroom villas with private infinity pools.

The villas offer private living, kitchen and dining areas. Bedrooms are also fitted with an ensuite bathroom while others open to reveal private verandas with outdoor showers and tubs.

Katamanda also features a large waterfall swimming pool, tennis court, fitness centre, meeting room and cafe serving Western and Thai cuisine.

Castle Resorts & Hotels was founded in 1994 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Castle Group, Inc.

Castle manages a broad portfolio of resort accommodations ranging from hotel guest rooms to spacious resort condominium suites and villas in the Hawaiian Islands on Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Kauai and Hawaiiand in New Zealand on the North Island.

There is no reason given as to why the company, in expanding from the Hawaiian islands to the Thailand islands, skipped the biggest island of them all, Australia.

In the past year, Castle Resorts & Hotels has acquired six management contracts.
