Every pool in a tropical environment needs extra attention

Pool Asia Expo and Conference, March 4-6

Friday, January 28, 2011
PHUKET and the region has some glorious pools and spas. But are some resorts and villa owners taking a dive when it comes to health and safety aspects?

The Pool Asia Expo and Conference should offer expert guidelines.

Pool operators will be able to gain certification during the three-day gathering from March 4-6 and manufacturers, retailers, pool builders, architects and landscapers are expected to come from as many as 20 countries.

''The whole aim is to lift standards across tropical Asia,'' said publisher and organiser Dr Josef Konrad. ''Although many pools are being built in the region, Europe's standards for care are much higher.''

Legionnaire's Disease is having an impact at some destinations, with guests sometimes falling ill once they return home.

The three-day event at the Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort and Spa at Karon aims at broading attitudes to swim safety, too, and won the ringing support of Phuket Governor Tri Augkaradacha when Dr Konrad met him earlier this month.

Highlight will be the launch of the Pool Asia awards, with resorts from all around the region invited to submit applications.

About 150 exhibitors will be showing off products, including robot cleaners and aqua fitness products.

The third day will be open to the public, with plenty to see and do. Contact: expo@poolasia.com or call 0884020070
