PHUKET'S first Street Performance Festival took place to enthusiastic crowds in Old Phuket Town last night.

Surprise surprise - it was standing room only at some of the six stages.

Phuketwan's photographer was intrigued and delighted, along with the whole audience, by what he saw in just one part of Thalang Road.

And with the athletic acrobats, flying without a net, street performance on Phuket reached new heights in every respect.

Crowds were also reported to be heavy at each of the performances. But everyone we encountered gave what they saw at least two thumbs up.

More street fun will be had on Saturday and Sunday nights, offering an alternative to the Patong Carnival on the other side of the island.
