The pier at Cape Panwa, a delightful place to relax on Phuket

Phuket's Cape Panwa Sails to Phuket Raceweek

Saturday, June 16, 2012
PHUKET: Phuket's Cape Panwa is such a relaxing hotel that the Phuketwan headline ''Cape Panwa Does Nothing Well'' says it all. It's a compliment. Here's their latest media release:

The multi-award winning Cape Panwa Hotel, Phuket, renowned for embodying tropical luxury in one of the world's most desirable locations, formally announced a multi-year Title Sponsorship deal to name and host the Phuket Raceweek regatta - now to be known as Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek 2012.

The new sports sponsorship agreement for southeast Asia's premier yacht racing event, to be held this July 18-22, means Cape Panwa Hotel, Phuket will be taking a leading role in promoting Phuket???s tourism and the stunning Cape Panwa area.

Kasemkij Hotels' Project Development Manager Tirawan Pangsrivongse commented: ''The Cape Panwa Hotel, Phuket, the finest hotel in the Cape Panwa area on the southeastern tip of Phuket, is perfect to host the Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek.

''Not only do we have an established international reputation for offering unsurpassed levels of service to the most discerning holidaymakers, including foreign dignitaries and Hollywood celebrities; but the hotel also features a beautiful secluded beach and tropical garden area that is ideal for hosting the event's famous parties.

''Regatta guests will also enjoy our extensive range of first class facilities, which include the world-famous Panwa House Thai restaurant, an exclusive spa and our newly renovated Cafe Andaman restaurant that offers excellent international and local fare with a spectacular sea view.

''Nowadays, sports tourism - especially yachting - is an effective way to promote Phuket as Thailand's premium tourism destination. By partnering with Image Asia Events, we get the opportunity to promote Phuket and Cape Panwa Hotel to our target market of premium local and international leisure and business traveler.

''So we are excited about being part of this international event and we look forward to showcasing Cape Panwa Hotel to regatta participants and media in July,'' said Tirawan.

Kasemkij Hotels' Travel Industry Group Director Poomipat Navanukroh added: ''Kasemkij Hotels is in the midst of getting the Cape Panwa Hotel and Kantary Bay Phuket Hotel ready to welcome the Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek 2012 participants and attendants.

''The event serves as a platform to promote the hotel to an extended customer base and position the property as the leading hotel on the island through a regional marketing campaign. A great deal of effort has been invested into the planning and execution of the event, and we are confident Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek 2012 will continue to be known as a most popular yachting event for many more years to come.''

Miss Thailand World 2012, Vanessa Muangkod, a native of Phuket, feels the ninth Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek not only promotes Cape Panwa Hotel as the title sponsor but also provides an opportunity to boost Phuket's tourism industry.

''Phuket has many beautiful attractions including idyllic tropical beaches, historic sites and a range of world-class accommodation, restaurant and entertainment options. We believe that these types of events will help promote these attractions to a wider international audience, enticing them to come and holiday on this magnificent island,'' she said.

''Cape Panwa Hotel, on the tip of Cape Panwa in the southeast of the island, allows us to further upgrade the standards of Phuket Raceweek by introducing some great new elements - like Cape Panwa Hotel's stunning exclusive beach and expansive beachside gardens,'' said Image Asia's Managing Director, Grenville Fordham.

''This agreement also means that we continue to race in the same waters in and around Chalong Bay that are so popular with regatta participants, that we keep our signature 'one regatta, one venue' format - and that we have security of venue beyond 2012.

''We have spent the last few months ironing out the details with their senior management to ensure that they, the regatta organisers, the participants and other sponsors all get the value they expect,'' he ended.
